Ellsworth, Verjus’ new little brother

The owners of Verjus and Verjus Wine Bar have a new baby, Ellsworth, with small plates to share and a kill-me-now (in the best way) Sunday brunch. I went on the official opening night a couple weeks ago and returned last Sunday for brunch. I can now say with confidence that it is well worth the visit. Here’s what was on the docket for dinner:Ellsworth ParisIf Verjus is the romantic, sophisticated sister, then Ellsworth is the spunky younger brother, at least if the menu continues in this fashion. Not to say the food is unsophisticated, but it does have a more playful twist to it.  By that, I mean chili lime ceviche with corn nuts, duck meatballs, and rabbit CORN DOGS. Come now.Ellsworth Paris

It’s still elegant, don’t get me wrong. And to be fair, I have to go to dinner more than once before I can label it a cool teenager. I’m just saying I liked it, and I will return. Here’s what we had.Ellsworth Paris

Shaved brussel sprouts, farro, brown butter, spiced almonds & pecorino

Sea bass ceviche, chili, lime, cilantro, radishes, & corn nuts

Rabbit sausage corndogs with pickled mustard seeds, just like at the State Fair.

The Verjus Wine Bar darling, buttermilk fried chicken.

Duck meatballs, heirloom carrots, peanut, sesame, mint, cilantro

Napoleon cheese, black pepper, & honey. It’s the worst photo I’ve ever taken (DON’T LOOK AT IT), and I have never heard of Napoleon cheese.

When deciding between desserts, the server explained that the chocolate sorbet was to die for, so we ordered a death wish, and she was right.
Ellsworth ParisCause of death, chocolate sorbet, worth it. This was malt ice cream & chocolate sorbet with a crumble that tasted completely different with each ice cream. When eaten with the chocolate sorbet, it tasted like salted caramel. Bahhhh.

Ellsworth ParisAfter trying their brunch last Sunday, it now rivals Holybelly in my heart of brunch hearts. More soon about that brunch, which in my opinion is where Ellsworth really struts its stuff.
